Alan S. Katkin is the Supervising Partner of the firm's Workers' Compensation, Social Security Disability, and Employment Law Groups and directs one of the busiest Workers' Compensation Social Security practices in the New York City borough of Staten Island.
Mr. Katkin has a national reputation and more than 25-years experience representing all parties to workers' compensation cases, including claimants, carriers, self-insured employers, third party administrators, uninsured employers, health care providers and even the Special Funds Conservation Committee created by New York State Law. A highly experienced litigator, he has handled literally thousands of hearings, trials and appeals in various areas, but uses his talents primarily to assist the firm's Workers' Compensation, Social Security Disability clients and Employment Law.
He is a frequent lecturer on Workers' Compensation Law, and has served as a faculty member for the prestigious Practicing Law Institute. Mr. Katkin has authored many published articles on Workers' Compensation Law-related topics and has presented seminars for the Richmond County Bar Association, Lorman Education Services, the Counsel on Education in Management, union groups, insurance companies and the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Katkin graduated from Brooklyn College in 1975 and received his Juris Doctor from the Brooklyn Law School in 1982. In the interim he took graduate courses at New York University Dental and Medical Schools, including study of Human Anatomy and Physiology. He was admitted to the New York bar in 1983 and is admitted to practice before all of the New York State Courts, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the United States Supreme Court.
He is a Past-President of the New York Workers' Compensation Bar Association and in that capacity helped formulate policy for the Association and met frequently with the Chairman of the Workers' Compensation Board to promote the rights of the parties appearing before the Board. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Society of New York Workers' Compensation Bar Association. Additionally, he is a member of the New York State Bar Association where he serves on the Workers' Compensation Division Committee and is a member of the Richmond County Bar Association and Staten Island Trial Lawyers Association.
